More than five officers from the National Airports Corporation successfully completed an Airport Planning and Project Management Training Program in Seoul, Republic of Korea this week.
Acting Managing Director and CEO of National Airports Corporation (NAC) Dominic Kaumu said, the training was funded by Korea Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd (KECC), the Design and Supervision Consultant for the Civil Aviation Development Investment Project II (CADIP II), as part of its capacity-building support to NAC.
The five-day program, delivered by the Korea Institute of Construction Technology Education (KICTE), gave participants practical skills and exposure to international best practices in airport planning, engineering, project delivery, and operations.
Held from October 11 to 18, 2026, the training covered airport planning and forecasting, facility design, operational readiness and airport transfers (ORAT), revenue diversification, airfield pavement and taxiway design using FAARFIELD software, and project management based on the FIDIC Red Book (2017).
This is the first of two training batches; the next group of six (6) officers will attend from November 29 to December 6, 2026.
As NAC continues to deliver critical aviation infrastructure under CADIP II and prepare for the next phase of investments under CADIP III, developing internal technical expertise remains a key priority, in ensuring Papua New Guinea’s airports are planned, developed and managed in line with international standards.
